Bowling Green gears up for 2023 Class 5A State Championship

Bowling Green, KY – The Bowling Green Purples are heading to Lexington on Saturday night to play in the 5A state championship game against Cooper.

The Purples are coming off a dominant win over Owensboro this past weekend in the semi-finals.

This will be the second straight year Bowling Green has appeared in the 5A Championship, after falling to Frederick Douglass last season.

Quarterback Deuce Bailey has been stellar this season and is looking to finish the job this year.

“It’s been an up and down year as high school football often is. I mean, with injuries and things that have gone on, but we pulled it together. We’re healthy. Now we’re playing our best ball at the best time of the year. So, this is this is this team’s chance to leave a really lasting legacy and be considered one of the great teams that have played our school,” head coach Mark Spader said when asked about the championship game.
