SOMERSET, Ky. – A 20-year-old man has been arrested after police say they found the suspect’s father and grandfather dead after a shooting in Pulaski County.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says it responded Tuesday with state troopers, Somerset police and the Science Hill police to a call of a shooting victim on Raleigh Road in Science Hill, Kentucky.

When authorities arrived, they say they found Ardyth “Ray” Prather Jr., 67, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Ardyth Prather’s wife, Joann Prather, 65, had been shot and stabbed but was still alive, according to authorities.

She was treated by Somerset/Pulaski EMS before being flown to Lexington. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Authorities say they also checked a residence nearby after seeing blood on the door, where they found Ardyth “Trae” Prather III, 43, dead inside the residence.

Law enforcement is now working to find the alleged perpetrator, Austin Prather, who is the son and grandson of the victims.

Authorities say he fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities say they arrested Austin Prather in Evansville, Indiana.

Prather is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail in Evansville pending extradition proceedings in Indiana and Kentucky.
