Flooding risks in South Central Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With severe weather rolling through the area, Warren County Emergency Management wants everyone to stay safe and that includes being aware of what’s on the road.

Water can pool easily in areas like Bowling Green where they are many low-lying spots and with heavy rain, the risk is definitely there. Warren County Emergency Management Deputy Director Travis Puckett said it doesn’t take much to be put in danger.

With just a foot of water, your car can be swept away. Puckett also said with older trees, bad storms can be a cause for concern as well. With the high winds and rain saturating the ground, it’s possible they could topple.

Puckett encouraged everyone to be weather aware and have more than just one way of receiving updates on what’s going on outside.
