Gas prices increase ahead of holiday travel

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Christmas may have come and gone, but the busy holiday travel season is not over yet.

Millions of Americans are expected to hit the road to return home from a holiday destination over the next few days, and those of you driving may notice something different on your final leg.

AAA is reporting that gas prices are up 17 cents for a gallon of unleaded.

The national average for a gallon of gas fell to a 2023 low of $3.06 on Dec. 18 but as increased over the past week to $3.12.

This marks the first weekly increase since September.

Right now, the average for a gallon of unleaded in Bowling Green is up to $2.86. Last week, the average was $2.66.

So where can you find the cheapest gas in town?

Gasbuddy.com says you can find a gallon of unleaded at Sam’s Club in Bowling Green for $2.72, slightly below the state average.

You can find gas priced at $2.79 at Casey’s on Gallatin Road and New Gallatin Road in Scottsville.
