Local organizations throw Friendsgiving

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – At the Christ Episcopal Church, SOKY Recovery Plug coordinated a Friendsgiving on Black Friday for those who battle with addiction.

News 40 paid a visit to the dinner, and while it was cold outside, the energy was very warm.

The station spoke to three individuals in recovery, who all had various things to say about the plight of addiction, but also the same; “at some point, you just get tired of it.”

The dinner Friday was to promote the idea of receiving treatment while also letting community members know there is someone who cares about them and is willing to help if asked.

Volunteers not only gave out food, they also had clothes, medicine and harm reduction items, as well like Narcan. Everything was free of charge thanks to local businesses that fed into the idea of assisting a part of the community.
