Veteran’s marker stolen from cemetery

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is currently working on a case of theft, and the crime scene is a cemetery.

World War II veteran Clifford Marvin Jones’s grave has been seemingly tampered with. According to the sheriff, Jones’s son came in yesterday and filed a report saying his father’s marker was stolen off his grave. As the story goes, the marker was sold to a recycling company, who then traced it back to Hardy & Son’s funeral home in Bowling Green who then contacted the Jones family.

Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower said to News 40 in his interview “The only way I could see someone do something like this, they must have a serious addiction… I would hope they get treatment and do better for this community” and that through his many years of law enforcement, he’s never encountered something of this nature.

The funeral home said this has never happened before either, but they have since contacted Veteran’s Affairs to rectify this situation.
