Give it a shot! Senior centers all across southern Kentucky

BUTLER COUNTY, Ky. – Community Action of Southern Kentucky along with the Barren River Area Development District come together in a great way for our local communities by funding and running several senior centers in our area.

There are 13 in total across multiple counties and at all, they’re a little different but also the same. Kathy Fugate with Community Action told News 40 while there are requirements that must be met for lunch delivery that the centers all offer, anyone age 60 or older is able to just walk in and utilize the facilities free of charge. The goal is to just provide a place for the older population to congregate, get some entertainment or exercise and get a quality meal.

News 40 spoke to a volunteer senior with the center that said it’s worth a try, and a BRADD employee said that it doesn’t have to be something you do every day, but just coming to the center even a couple times a week is good.

Everyone who took time to speak to the station told us that at the senior centers around the area, you can find fun, friends and some good food.

There’s a lot of information surrounding the centers, but if you have any questions then Community Action staff would be glad to answer them. Fugate said you can call their main office any time.
