Parking discourse in Scottsville

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A new ordinance could be coming to Scottsville, put the city wants the public’s opinion to help shape the downtown area.

News 40 spoke to Mayor David Burch, who said that there has been some “misinformation” circulating on social media since their first reading of the pending ordinance and wanted to do his best to clear the air. Burch said he wants the town to know that this isn’t a “them versus us situation” and that getting a handle on the parking situation downtown is necessary to keep the area thriving.

Burch said he’s heard form both business owners and residents that parking has been a long time problem and has caused shops to stay out of downtown as well as send would-be customers on their merry way for lack of space.

The mayor encouraged those within city limits and the county to show up to city hall next Thursday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. to have a healthy discussion on what downtown Scottsville could look like going into 2024.
