Bowling Green Native Kade Unseld Signs With WKU Basketball

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Head WKU Hilltopper Basketball Coach Steve Lutz has announced the signing of Warren Central High School product Kade Unseld for the class of 2024.

Coming off a state title-winning junior season, the 6-5 guard is poised to have another standout year for Warren Central in 2023-24.

“First of all, Kade is a terrific young man that comes from a first-class family,” said Lutz. “The biggest complement I can give him is that he’s a winner on and off the court. As a player, he has a tremendous gift for shooting the basketball and impacting the game with his high basketball IQ. Watching Kade play, it is evident that he has been coached at a high level, and that will help him transition to the collegiate level. He is a perfect fit for our style of play and culture here at WKU.”

After an accolade filled junior season in which Unseld averaged 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds a game, he was one of two underclassmen selected to both the Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald Leader First Team All-State teams. He was also named MVP of the prestigious King of the Bluegrass Tournament after leading his Dragons to the championship.

A proven riser in the post-season, Unseld was selected to the KHSAA Sweet 16 All-Tournament team after averaging 18.3 points a game, including a 17-point game in the state championship.

Unseld has also proven himself on the highest levels of grassroots basketball while playing for Mokan Elite on the EYBL circuit. During the highly regarded Peach Jam tournament, he shot 47% from three-point range.

This past summer he was able to represent the state of Kentucky in the Kentucky-Indiana Junior All-Star game in which he shined with 15 points and 8 rebounds in a Kentucky win.

Unseld is the first class of 2024 signee for Coach Lutz and the Hilltoppers this season
