Glasgow church group stuck in Israel amid international conflict

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Conflict sparked this weekend in Israel as Hamas, a group in Gaza, launched an attack on the country Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, many visitors are stuck in Israel as a result. Stranded currently is a church group from Glasgow, and as the world watches the flashes of war on screen, the pastor of the church took to Facebook to update everyone back home of their status in such an unforeseen situation.

Pastor Nic Smith not only leads the River Lake Church in Glasgow – he’s also one of the chaplains for the Glasgow Police Department. He and his congregation took a trip to the country but now stuck, they are still in good spirits. On Facebook, Smith has posted a video that everyone is safe and asks everyone to pray for Israel.

We spoke to the Glasgow Police Department Monday as well, who said they’re ready for everyone’s safe return. The department chief said everyone in Israel on this trip right now is an important member of the Glasgow-Barren County community and ask that everyone keeps them in their thoughts and prayers, along with the public information officer, who said the whole department is awaiting updates from Smith and others.
