2 arrested after record amount of crystal methamphetamine seized in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A record seizure of crystal methamphetamine in Warren County is no longer bound for Bowling Green after an ongoing investigation.

According to the Warren County Drug Task Force, authorities developed information of a possible load of narcotics heading to Bowling Green.

Detectives and the Kentucky State Police Interdiction Team found the vehicle in question returning to Kentucky, and KSP initiated a traffic stop before a brief pursuit followed.

Authorities say troopers were able to stop the vehicle about five miles south of Bowling Green on Interstate 65 around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The occupants of the vehicle were arrested without further incident.

A vehicle search of the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe led to the discovery and seizure of 80 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, according to authorities. The drug task force says this is the largest seizure of crystal methamphetamine in Warren County, with a street value of $500,000.

The driver, identified as Joseph Adam Raby, 40, of Bowling Green, is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), first-degree wanton endangerment (citizens of the commonwealth), excessive window tinting and third-degree criminal mischief.

The passenger, identified as Brandon Trent, 24, of Bowling Green, is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

BG/WC Drug Task Force Tommy Loving said, “This exceeds the case we had about two years ago with 44 pounds of meth which, at that time, was the largest seizure of crystal meth in Warren County.”

Loving adds that considering one-third of Kentucky’s overdose deaths are from methamphetamine, this drug bust saved lives.

Both remain in the Warren County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
